I am a student of Budo Taijitsu (i just started a few months ago) and i've found whever im sparring my techniques often fail because i can't get a good grip on the persons arm or leg.

i think this is either because of sweat or because i have poor grip strength. plus, having a good grip is never bad. it can make a technique much more effective and painful.

so, does anyone know any excersizes to imrpove my grip? ive thought about buying a "Grip Master" or "Eagle catcher" but i thought i'd ask you guy's opinion first.

I'd recommend an eagle catcher and a pair of hand grips.

Save the money, buy a tennis ball instead. It'll do the same thing. Just squeeze the heck out of it all day when you're hands are idle and it'll make a difference. Spend the money instead on a pair of grappling gloves. It'll help on the sweat part of it.

Have you ever seen one of those wooden bars with rope attached to it and a weight on the other end of the rope?

By holding it out and rolling the bar till the weight comes all the way up, you can increase your forearm and grip strength. They are easy and inexensive to make. Remember to roll the bar clockwise and counter-clockwise to work different muscles groups.

Cheers!
