At the last comp. I went to Korean, Japanese and Chinese competed against each other.
The Korean practitioners wielded both a short staff and kama.
Check out AshleyBeck.com and ask him. I'm sure he'll be pleased to answer your questions (He's a 4th Dan in TKD, and practices Capoerra for his musical forms)
Oh yeah, I'm sure IAMRUSHMAN has something to say. Hes the TKD man.

Weapons training is also going to depend on the school. Aside from a quick lesson on using a pen lower belts don't do weapons at my school. BB's are just now beginning to learn short stick tech's. |

The use of weapons in TKD depends on the school. TKD don't have oficial weapons that belong only to the style. They can have Korean Weapons ( Kum Do ), Some schools use kobudo weapons ( Bo, Kama, Sai, nunchaku) and even some schools use wu shu weapons ( spear, broadsword,) and even filipino weapons ( sticks and knifes) .. But the sports TKD schools don't train in weapons.
I think it depends on the intructor. |

In general Tae kwon does not teach the use of weapons but weapons are still an integral part of any martial art and our school at times offers instructional "workshops" on the use of various traditional offensive weapons.
