Hi,
The techniques used in BJJ are mostly the same that the ones on Judo. As a matter of fact, I think Judo looks more a like BJJ than Traditional Jiu jitsu. In other words, BJJ looks like Judo with a Stong Ne-waza.
If you see a BJJ tournament, you will notice that when the start on there feet, It looks like a Judo match.
So I think BJJ ( Brazilian Jiu.jitsu) Should be called BJ ( Brazilian Judo ) lol!
Thanks. |

I think they look similar, because Judo was developed out of the teaching of jujitsu by Kano. They are based on similar principle, just variations in rules. |

Brazilian judo, he he!
You are right they are very similar. Most of the throws in jiu-jitsu originate from judo aswell.

i was under the impression that the throws from judo originated from jiu jitsu...(considering jiu jitsu is an ancient art..)?? _________________ " The art of Kung Fu San Soo lies not in victory or defeat, but in the building of human character." Grand Master Jimmy H. Woo |

Umm YES!
Judo is very young in comparison with Kage Jujutsu which Kano studied, before he created Judo itself.
Take Care. |

Brazilian jiu jitsu sounds better, so let's leave it at that _________________ "razor elbows, killer knees, iron fists and monster kicks"
