Yellow belt in BJJ?

What's that all about?

Belts in BJJ as I know it are white, Blue, Purple, Brown, Black - with stripes on each belt.

I don't know about bjjbarbie, but I am only 14, so the Gracies have made three "extra" belts for those under sixteen - the yellow, orange, and green belts...just, I assume, to show that the kids are progressing very well and are getting the technical moves, but also to show that they aren't big/strong enough to ever really meet the BJJ requirements. Rockson Gracie held his green belt until he turned 16, and as a green belt could beat many very experienced purples...the BJJ guys are trying to make sure that BJJ doesn't become too "watered down" like many arts did in America.

As far as I know, the only people ever to move outside the blue, purple, brown, black progression are those under 16.

yeah roundhouse,

that sounds right. I remember hearing something similar to that. I guess those extra belts are just like "junior" ranks. I think it's a great alternative to giving black belts to kids who aren't ready for that responsibility.

oh sorry guys...i prob had u confused....in our combined martial arts ......there are all types or requirements for a belt (eg.self defence, kata, basic and bjj!!)..and one of them is a bjj requirment....and jacare's greding is about the standard that the 12 year olds have to reach iun our school!

hope that clears it up!

Lindsay is all lies.. Do you want the truth ?

She goes to a McDojo, hell, she can only afford to go once a week it's that expensive. That's why she hasn't made it to black belt yet.. =p

Bon,
Do you know Lindsay or something? That's like the second time I've heard you say she's from a McDojo, blah, blah, blah, ext. So what's the deal? You two friends or enemies or something?
