Just got home from the Grapplers Quest Worls, big competition to say the least. I competed in both the childrens 115-130 division and the women's 119 and below competition, losing both in my first matches! It was a good experience though...I haven't been grappling for long and next month's NAGA, hopefully, will reap bigger rewards!
My first match in the kids division was against a very solidly built guy from Tiger Schulmann's, a veteran grappler...I know he's won a few of these things before, and after armbarring me in the first minute, he went on to win the competition! He was a nice guy though...kudos to him.
Second match, women's featherweight, against a small asian woman, great balance and agility. She was very slippery, this match went awhile with her in my half guard. She began to pass, and I tried to get back up on my knees to face her and put her back in full guard, but she had an amazing full spin into back mount, and after that she choked me to submission!
Well, I didn't win anything, but it was a great experience! _________________ 1st dan Tae Kwon Do

Congratulations, you got there and competed against more experience grapplers, gain experience and had fun,
You got there and lose, but you at least tried, next time you'll have more experience and you'll do it much better
in my book you ARE a winner.
Good for you. Keep training. |

Well, I know that in jiu-jitsu you have to be the nail a long time before you get to be the hammer - I just have to wait for my time! Until then, I will train hard! _________________ 1st dan Tae Kwon Do

You'll be amazed at how much more you learn now and want to learn. I got arm barred in my first competition which fueled my desire to learn how to pass the guard properly. I choked someone out in less than 20 seconds in my last tourney, very satisfying _________________ It takes sacrifice to be the best.

360 major kudos!

Wow...I can't even imagine what a BJJ match would be like...
Congrats on simply having the courage to do it! Stick with it and you'll do great! _________________ 1st dan & Asst. Instructor TKD 2000-2003
