Hello martial artists...

I have been in ATA Taekwondo for 10 years now...

And in the past 4-5 of years the ATA has started implementing weapons in and outside of Korean martial Arts origin...

this is great!! ....but.... I have a question

:::drumroll:::

I was watching weapons and forms at bilang.com and realized that all of those freestyle forms had a similar pattern (not all of them total but many of them) ... especially the weapons forms...

being new to the weapon systems I was wondering if there is a good source for freestyle weapon patterns and base forms to build a solid freestyle from

all feedback would be appreciated...

My weapon of choice is the Sahgn Jeol Bahng (nunchaku) .... if it will help narrow the question down...

goodbye

Try by learning the basics of the weapon first, then learn the traditional patterns from a system that teaches that weapon (if you can find someone who will just teach you that stuff without the rest of the art).

Then make your own stuff up. Personally I think the freestyle stuff is junk, should be figure skaters or dancers instead.

I do respect the the athletic ability of the preformers and the dedication, I jsut feel it is misdirected.

Freestyle form as in something to do for form competitions? I don't understand the question fully.
I think that you can learn more from a Kali/Escrimador as far as weapons go than from any other martial artist. You'll learn many different weapons, fluidity and you have a good chance of not learning one kata. You'll be able to free flow into any type of pattern or kata you want, and be able to do it effectively in a combat situation.
