Is their a difference, or are they the same thing? Having an argument with my friend on this topic a little clarification on this would be cool thx.

The same thing. Just different way to translitterate the language. One is correct, other is incorrect, but both are okay as far as fighting arts usage is concerned.

Neither is incorrect it all depends on what part of China the translator is from.
