A guy in my town has appearently created a style called HapJuKenpo.
Hes a 4th degree Blackbelt HapKiDo and a 5-6th degree blackbelt in Kenpo and combined certain aspects of the styles together to form this art.
HapJuKenpo as a style is appearently recognized by the USKA as legitimate and granted him the title of SOKE.
Has anyone ever heard of it?
I am probably going to go check it out tonight, I have a little bit of a background in Martial arts (Yellow Belt in Shotokan) |

I hope he's in his 50's, to be proclaiming that many belts.
Is the "Ju" for Judo or JiuJitsu as well? _________________ Kuk Sool Won - 4th dan

If it's American Kenpo, I'd be a little suspicious. Many AK schools will also teach a grappling art as well. But the combination of AK and Hapkido, I'm not too sure. Both are respected systems, and neither needs outside influences to make them complete stand up arts, and both have grappling in them (though not to the extent of a primarily grappling art). I'd ask where he got his rank(s). Who did he train under? There are a lot of charlatins out there throughout the martial arts. Not saying this guy is one, just that you should be careful. I wouldn't sign any contracts untill you're sure. _________________ Freedom isn't free! |

Not sure. Maybe he's legit. Check his class first, ask him some questions, call to the USKA to verify if he's really a "soke".. Just do your homework. |

I've always been a Kenpo/Kempo person, but I also stydied Shotokan for several years, hmm..............maybe I should combine the two and create KenpoKan
All kidding aside, check it out and see what his class is all about. Then make a sound decision on what you believe is good for you. |
