|

I'm not sure if this is a weird question but....
I was wondering if there is anything out there, that is almost like a shin pad that you slide on, but rather than an actual shin pad, it's almost like a pad of some kind of ice or gelatin icey stuff?
The reason I ask, is because my shins are getting beaten up preety bad in class, and I have a tournament in a week, and I need the bruises to heal. I hate using a bag of ice, because it's a pain to hold there and stuff. So I guess I'm just wondering if there's something that you can just slide on, and it stays there and it provides icey comfort for my shins. |

Closest thing I can think of is those bands you put in the freezer, then wrap around your neck in the heat. Don't know how well they'd work, or for how long. I'd tape them in place if you try them. Could get uncomfortable if they slip and ball up under your shin pads.
Youmight talk to a physical therapist for some ideas. They do all sorts of wierd stuff like that any how, so who knows? _________________ Freedom isn't free! |

You can always get a pair of cloth shin pads and reusable cold packs. Cut a slit in the pocket that holds the pad in the shin pads remove it and then insert the chilled cold packs into the now empty pouch. |

Just get an ice pack and wrap it to your shins using an Ace bandage. Easy, cheap, reusable. _________________ Res firma, mitescere nescit |

Wouldn't it just be easier to wear cloth / padded shin guards during classes? They really don't take up any bulk, and won't cause any undue distractions when others block your kicks. |

We wear shin pads in class sometimes, especially when it's close to tournaments, but you still get bruised up badly sometimes.
I find now, that I use those gelly ice packs and then I just tape 'em to my shins now. I found something in the drug store that has a cloth strap with a velcro for putting on your shins... but it was rather expensive at the time that I didn't have much money. I might pick that up when I'm feeling rich. |

Ace makes a bandage that velcros to itself and has a pocket that holds an ice gel pack. I picked up a couple at the drug store. Works great. |
