Tai Chi is one of the finest forms of Kung Fu. There is a family of Gung Fu styles called the Wu Dang. These are the major "internal/soft" gung fu styles:

Tai Chi
Ba Gua
Hsing I

These are all amazing styles and far more refined than most, I personally dont agree with cross training. Shinto Ryu is a great self defence style that gives you very quick and effective answers. Tai Chi would take you many years to be able to apply, but if you suck at it for say 10years, then you would need no other style. IMO.

Take Care.

Actually, WuDong is a region / mountain / temple on a mountain. WuDong styles are styles with a liniage from or through there.

Saying "wudong" is analogous to saying "shaolin".

Bagua, Taiji, and HsingI are "neijia", or internal arts; as opposed o the "weijia" or external arts.

And yes, all are "wushu" (war arts) and all are "kung fu" (skill developed over time).

Thanks guys. Our sensei is Norways leading instructor in both Chito ryu karate do, and Tai Chi. Anyway he told me to get more experienced at Chito before adding Tai Chi as they are a bitt different.
Thank you for the help Jl and Kensai.
