I recently have been very interested in learning more about this style. I've heard it's a no * kind of MA. Are there any katas in JKD or is it mostly for combat? If so, I bet I would like it.

Its a combat martial art. No kata involved. Check out the combat martial arts forum. There are some threads on JKD in there.

One of the main principles of JKD is "No kata"

... Of course a lot of JKD people do things that are essentially kata, but don't call them that
