Thanks for the link, Ali.
Sapp is always good for a laugh, but that sumo guy is even worse.

BTW, in my previous post I was talking about the championship instead of the premium. Sorry!

having seen the fight, it is nice to see Sapp finally throw a couple of
combinations, and finally start to use low kicks. I guess his training
with Sam Greco is starting to pay off. Still though, he just beat
someone with like 2 months training. not too much to brag about.

thanks for the link to the fight!

Ripper, I'm from the UK and we have Eurosport GB and usually get things later than everyone else When akebono was KO for the last time, on the clip that I've seem sapp approaches him whilst he is down, and there is someone holding sapp back. What happens next? does sapp go over to check on him?

How did Francois Botha do in this event? I'd be interested to see how a heavyweight contender, a Tyson opponent and a decent boxer did in this event.

Links for results anyone?

I know this is a kickboxing, Boxing, and Muay Thai thread but I was wondering if there is any Tae Kwon Do fighters in K-1 or in MMA Competitions.

I dont know about MMA

I have seen a couple of TKD practitioners in the
K-1 MAX (The midleweight division) and they did
not fair very well.

Maybe Kyuk Too Ki produce some K-1 competitors
as i understand that is the Korean style of Kickboxing.
ok, but thanks for the information Knockdown.

The people were probably holding Sapp back because in his last match (with Remy Bonjasky) he KO'd him after he had slipped on the canvas and was disqualified...

In fact, Francois Botha did the same to Cyril Abidi in their previous match at the previous K-1 event, hence his "matrix style" response as the commentator put it. It was just random chance that they got put together again in the next tournament.

On a separate note, I'm wondering whether Will Vanders (the must maligned commentator for Eurosport Martial Arts) will be at the UK K-1 event in February at Wolverhampton... I'd love to see what he looks like. People slag off Will Vanders but the Boxing Commentator on Eurosport UK is so much worse. He's really depressing, always on about how rubbish boxing has become, how the fighters are all unskilled and all the matches are fixed. It's a chore to listen to him. At least Will Vanders loves the sports he commentates!
