And of course, if your not sure about hurting yourself with the wooden nunchaku, he will get you a pair foam ones.

Sorry to tell you, but you're not a 10th Kyu in KObudo. YOu have to grade for your 10th Kyu, and you haven't done that yet

that is true, you have to grade for your white belt in kobudo, just as in any other martial art

about the foam nunchaku, they are a really good idea, I started of with metal, telescopic ones and they really hurt when you hit yourself with them
foam ones are much nicer

I find them harder to use than the wooden chain nunchaku.

Hiya Angela,
In the styles that I've studied, the student starts off as a white belt (prior to grading). Apart from Wing Chun, where I started off with nothing, and had to grade for your first sash (red).

Foam chucks are good to train with. But don't spar or train with them at full power. They break too easy, and can still hurt if you smack you partner with them.
