How long does it take in your school (on average) to get a black belt starting from zero. In my Tai Chi Chuan school takes 4 to 5 years.
I left 1 year tolerance in each item.

I've been at it for 4 yrs now and I'm at 3rd kyu, so I'm looking at 5 or 6 yrs to Shodan.

Yes I mean following the classes without skipping them too much and doing little extra practice... and still it may depend on the individual that's why I put 'on average'.

It takes about 4-5 years in my club, but that's training on a regular basis, plus practicing at home too.

Just out of interest, who chose less that 3 years???

It took me three and a half years. I trained about seven hours a week for three years. For most people who stick with it at that dojo, four to five years is about right.

It took me five years. Where I train now the average is six or seven.

If you are good and train regualary 2-3 times a week you will get a black belt around 4.5 -5.1 years.

This include trainning regualary and train at home about 4 hours at home 0ver 3 hours at club.

Any club if get a blacke belt on avergae 2 years or under is a disgrace.
