What about chokes?

Yes, lots of them.

Chokes, locks, dislocations, breaks, throws, etc., etc.

You first start seeing them mixed in at black-brown level.

Kwan Juhl Ki, Mohk Joh Leu Ki and Dahn Doh Mahk Ki all have some in them.

I like that approach. I think that dangerous chokes should only be taught at advanced levels anyway. That is how I was trained, I only learned basic versions of chokes early on and then at more advanced level I learned all the various ways to apply them and I learned not only carordid chokes but also the trachea chokes that can be fatal. But nowadays you can go into any mma and even some TMA schools and learn chokes the first few lessons . I guess I'm just a stupid traditionalist

Wow I use a "collar crunch" all the time and I didn't know it! That's my favorite Clinch position for knee strikes. It's one of the few advanced positons that you can still do with gloves on.

It really is a great clinch hold to have in your arsenal. you can do so much from it and it doesn't leave very many openings for your opponent to exploit. Great hold!
