Leaning vack into a round kick counter balances your leg and lets you fit harder. The non-swing arm defends your face. This also brings you out of range of a counter punch. The swing arm can also be stuffed in his face instead of low. _________________

exactly. Don't swing all the way past the waist. when delivering a thai style roundhouse though, you shouldn't be leaning back - at least not the way I was taught. The step you take slightly forward and a lean in that direction is what will balance you. |

DM be careful. I got my hand slapped for mentioning the very same things that you did. We wouldn't want to get banned from the forums! _________________ A block is a strike is a lock is a throw. |

Try bending your supporting leg more. It will put more strain on that leg, but it will increase balance greatly.
Also, practice your balance always. Put your socks and shoes on standing up. Little things like that, that you can do everyday, will get you there fast. _________________ Justfulwardog

You're always so suspicious. It's kinda strange. _________________ If you can't laugh at yourself, there's no point. No point in what, you might ask? there's just no point.
Many people seem to take Karate to get a Black Belt, rather than getting a Black Belt to learn Karate. |

Not trying to be sarcastic or anything - but shouldn't karate teach more about balance than kickboxing. Sure both require the same thing, but some of karate's complicated kicks require more balance than alot of kickboxing techs. _________________ "An enlightened man would offer a weary traveler a bed for the night, and invite him to share a civilized conversation over a bowl of...
