I have been here for sometime and I have not seen another Aikidoka.
I was just wondering if there are any in this forum? Also what style do you do?

My employer does Aikido. I was going to join too, but it would have been an hour drive at least. I happened upon private instruction a lot closer (not Aikido) that suited me better. I do like Aikido... I suggest it to people looking for that sort of style. From what I can tell it's a bit of an exact science that takes a long time to master, but once you do it's worth it. I think without striking techniques I might have felt like something was missing though. _________________ 1st Dan Hapkido

I practice Ki aikido.
Yea, I know about the other forums, but some of the Aikidoka are very much up themselves.
Lots of people say that there are no strikes in Aikido, however we do do Atemi Waza, which are extreme effective. |

I practice a pre-war style of Aikido called Yoseikan Aikido that was founded by a pre-war student of Ueshiba; Minoru Mochizuki who also studied to dan rank with Kano Sensei in Judo and Funakoshi Sensei in Shotokan. Mochizuki Sensei also has a great deal of rank in Kendo, Kobudo, Iaido, and Jujitsu as well. His form of Aikido incorporates elements from all of the arts he studies, with Judo being more heavily represented than the others. All in all it is an art with a great deal of material that is designed to make the practicioner as well rounded in the martial way as possible. It takes years to master, with my ten years in i have only recently been promoted to Shodan, but it was a voyage that has yielded me rich rewards both as a martial artist and a person. I have seen your comments on many other similar topics and am looking forward to learning more of your unique perspective on this art that has so greatly changed my life. _________________ Matt Gilliard

I just began practicing at a dojo associated with Toyoda Shihan's Aikido Association of America. So far it's a lot of fun. |

Nihon Goshin Aikido here. Smaller circles, plenty of strikes, pressure points, judo type throws and of course... my favorite, CHOKES!!! _________________ Nihon Goshin Aikido |
