Which do you think is the most popular karate style? By popular, I mean which has the most students? New styles seem to pop up each week, so keeping a track of all the styles can be a bit tricky, but some styles seem to have more practicioners than others.
I know it's difficult to say which is the most practiced style, but if you had to have a rough guess which would you go for? _________________ "Was it really worth it? Only time and death may ever tell..." The Beautiful South - The Rose of My Cologne

Shotokan its has too many ceremony and traditions, kenshukai has been voted as the hardest style which you have to be nearly perfect to pass everybelt, it does not have much tradition but in terms of rountine kenshukai have been a top runner, that is improving each time.
No one really knows this club but soon you'll probabely see some in World karate class in about 5-10 years time that will be me, just joking.
Am not really sure which is the best goju ryu is poupoular hmmmm....But shotokan has the must student in term of my knowledege. _________________ A karate punch it is like a dasvasted stick blow. Shotokan is the most popular style of Karate, its a statistic, though I dont understand why, its no better then anyother style (in fact I prefer many others), it just seems to attract so many. _________________ "When my enemy contracts I expand and when he expands I contract" - Bruce Lee

Karate would seem so, but if u think about how many ppl live in china; 1.3 billion, and i'm sure that Kung fu would probably be their most popular MA, it might be that Kung fu is the most popular style. I mean even in the west, JKD and Wing Chun are very popular, so world wide i'd go with Kung fu. _________________ "When my enemy contracts I expand and when he expands I contract" - Bruce Lee |

Shotokan, then take-one's-dough. Both had fairly zealous "marketers" in the JKA and the Korean government. _________________ There have always been Starkadders at Cold Comfort Farm! |

I think if we're talking "karate", then yes, Shotokan is probably the most popular. Unless of course you want to classify TaeKwonDo (all of the various forms of it) as "karate, then I think TKD would win.
If we're talking "martial art, then I'd suspect TaiChi perhaps? |

I am not sure about this but I don't believe that everyone in china take kung fu just like everyone in India doesn't take kalipreaht. Yeah I think for students it is shotokan but goju has over a half million students and climbing _________________ Kisshu fushin oni te hotoke kokoro |

I have to agree, shotokan has the greatest amount of students but that means it also has the greatest amount of McDojo's. In Canada and the U. S. American Kenpo has a large following... |
