I think that Chinese systems that incorporate Chi na in their systems are very effective, as they cover all ranges, weapons, kicking, punching, trapping, throws, and ground work.
Shuai Chiao has somewhat gone the way of BJJ, many people focus on the sport aspect too much.
They are different, again it is hard to find a good instructor; however I think you may be able to in Vancouver.
BJJ is more widespread and easier to find... |

Angus,
Hapkido wasn't created by a dude who did TKD and learned Aikido in Japan..
A korean who's name was Yung Sul Choi learned Japanese style Daito-ryu Aikijujitsu From Sokaku Takeda in Japan.
Then Choi returned to korea and Taught that style to Ji Han Jae.
Master Ji Han Jae then learned from an old Korean Monk the art of Taekyon which is kicking style, Chang Bong ( long staff ) and Dan Jang ( short staff )..
And from a Old Nun, Jae learned Dan jon Sul ( breathing techniques) and Son Do Sul ( meditation Techiques).
As you can see, Hapkido looked more a soft, circular motion, locking and seizing, controling style, like Judo and jiu jitsu at that time. But i think now, intructors maybe are more concern on The striking aspects of the Art because they want to fight like TKD.
Thanks.

bjj lets the smaller person take advantage of the bigger one using ,sweeps, takedowns, submissions , using leverage,
you can't argue with proven techniques based on leverage ,
try a class you'll love it _________________ "When we go to the ground, you are in my world, the ground is the ocean, I am the shark,
