Ki (Chi) is an internal energy everyone has...I don't want to go into it here, though, because I don't want to start any religion/martial arts debates in here...We don't plan on incorporating on "ki", since it's mostly a chinese and japenese thought. (My husband did teach Tai Chi for quite a while, though, and managed to do so and still believe in God...)
As far as budo, we're teaching mostly taekwondo, and only incorporating akido as a self defense and training aid, and kendo will only be taught to our higher ranking students who choose to participate in a weapons program (when we'll have more one on one time to explain exactly what our thoughts on such things are), so we won't be incorporating it into our overall curriculum...but regardless, it means (as far as I understand) the way of the warrior, finding your way through the struggle...I think we all do that on a daily basis... _________________ www.karatebarn.com

I don't
In fact, if I wasn't typing this message right now, Iwould be hiding under the covers, sucking my thumb, and most likely whimpering over the fact that I'm late for work.... gotta go! _________________ Student: "Why did you hit that guy with a chair? Why didn't you use your karate?"

Hey I think you have a wonderful Idea.
I've heard of another group that teaches Jujitsu at their church and as part of the belt ranking system they have to memorize different parts of the bible and also have a understanding of what they are memorizing.
I liked that part of it because they are getting two birds with one stone, martial arts and religion. Anyways that might be an idea, Remember you should always be able to add to a good martial arts system just dont take away from it.

Just don't try to evade taxes by citing your dojo expenses as a church function...there is at least one person sent to jail for that. _________________ Martial Arts Blog:http://bujutsublogger.blogspot.com/ |

What about if it were an actual ministry within the church?
I don't think the government can dictate what ministries a church runs.
Could be wrong though. _________________ Student: "Why did you hit that guy with a chair? Why didn't you use your karate?"
