You often hear strategies for one on one street combat, but what about when youre faced with 4 or 5 people trying to beat the living daylights out of you? What would you do then? (apart from run! - because ummm there is a wall behind you, and they are circling around you!) |

All that I know about a multiple attack situation is that you DO NOT back up against a wall. You have no where to go and no way to distance yourself from the attackers. You need to quickly get to an open area. You need to move in a way so your attackers are aligned one behind each other ....this is where footwork is very important. In this way you can take them out one by one or grab one and use him as a shield.

if you are gonna have to hit somebody......hit the biggest guy first with your hardest shot......when the other guys see him go down they will think twice about taking you on
plus stay on your feet, when you hit the ground and there are 4 guys there you are done for
another thing is.........punch one guy a few times then automattically try to move to the next and the next with everything you got |

I always thought the best defense against multiple attackers was to stand on one side of a doorway so only one could come through at a time... But that's just an old "role-playing/D&D" tactic from my childhood... I guess not always practical in reality... Hey, the wall was number 2 tactic!
Kickchick, why do you feel that is bad? I appreciate the advantage of mobility, but how do you get 4 or 5 people to line up in front, rather than circling around behind once you're in the open?
Hahaha Nice video. I see... back the multiple attackers against the wall, where they can't do jack and interfere with each other... nice.

Its also sensing they are going to attack, so making the first strike to take them back, Going for the one on one side is good since it distances both you and him from the others. Quickly take him out then move on.
Well, thats what he did anyway, heh. |

Heh, pretty cool.
I dunno if we'd all be as lucky as him like that though.
I think that's how you gotta be though, not scared of getting hit, especially more so here. I'm imagined what it'd be like and we've played a 'game' called 'pinball' where everyone in the dojo forms a circle and hold bags.. You get one kick, then after that everyone can push and bump you with the bags. I try to kick one guy, go behind, then to side, other side and back again.
