Can it be done? Ive seen people attempt it, but they dont get really far. When I say overweight I mean can't lift leg off ground for more than 5 seconds without falling over! Maybe with Judo and sumo wrestling overweight people could have a chance!

Oh well. lol
I think first they must see a doctor.. then lose weight by proper eating and low impact exercises.. and when have lose several pounds Then the can Think on starting a martial arts program.
It's very hard,.. sometimes it gets very hard to drop 15 to 20 pounds, now i don't even want to know what's losing 100 pounds..
I think it can be done, but it must be done Right and carefully.
Thanks.

i know a couple guys who are overweight and are competitive fighters

it would help if they drop a few pounds and they know it but it doesnt effect their fighting ability at all......even though they are overweight they can still go 12 rounds

im am overweight..have been for about the last 10 years....im 290 pounds..however it does not stop or even slow me down..as a matter a fact i know of few martial artist that can keep up with me...if you have good conditioning and discipline the weight is not something that gets in your way...i would rather be thinner..but ive tried i dont know how many diets and i just am a big guy..so what? the intensity that i work out at put it this way..i train and teach at three different dojangs...some students now schedule thier days off when they know i will be there that evening..others have just quit all together..old habits never die...i was an instructor in the navy and a drill insructor...back then i looked like jean cluade van damme..and my daily routine was to kill (through phyisical drills) marines and naval personel..this was at naval hospital command at portsmouth virginia...even today im still that same guy..i just have some extra pounds...
