If your art doesn't teach you what its like to get roughed up whats the point.
I'm not suggesting you go to your club and have your arm broken or your eyes poked out but you need to feel real pain and shock.Otherwise you very simply are not prepared for a real life situation.
Half the battle is becoming accustomed to being hit, until you have it isn't half a shock when you do,it's a bit like being a child again.
You should be thrown to the floor, swept, punched kicked, slapped and have just about anything done to you that can, including locks chokes and shouting. Its all part of the learning process.
Osu.

Gino I don't know if your referring to San Soo in your statement, but believe me you get plenty roughed up.

Treebranch,
No I wasn't refering to San Soo which I admit I know little about.
I was suggesting that any Martial Art that has very limited contact may well be missing an important ingredient for preparing it's students for a real life situation.

Gino,
I guess that's depends on the person. For example, If a person has never been in a real fight I agree with you. I personally had been in plenty of fights before I started doing MA's, so I could see right away how to use the techniques being taught. But I see what you mean.
