Tae bo or cardio karate workouts are spot on for improving fitness stamina, flexibility and timing. I teach classes as well as karate classes. Important to remember tae bo is not a martial art but a good all body fitness workout, particuarlly when combined with body conditioning work.
I took my workout routine into a karate class of experienced students. They were all burnt our within 30 minutes. My cardio students lasted over 60 minutes.
I also helps to improve co ordination and timing for sparring
I also exhausted a dan grade group at at gradeing session for my association in 1 hour. They thought they were fit |

Obviously no one would consider Tae-Bo a new or different or innovative form of martial arts but its effectiveness as a good workout depends on how hard someone pushes himself/herself and whether or not he or she is just going through the movements or really trying to put 100% behind each movement so that the muscles and the body will fully benefit from increased endurance, stamina, flexibility, strength, etc. The good thing is that you can go at your own pace and take it easy until you feel like you are more comfortable with going either faster or throwing those moves with more energy or force or commitment and just when your body is more used to the motions. Throwing a decent high kick once every two seconds and following the beat isn't that easy! haha The effectiveness (in terms of fitness of course) of Tae Bo will always depend on how hard-core you are willing to go. |

Oh you will definately lose the weight! If youre taking a good quality high cardio class you will burn 800-1000 calories in an hr. class

I do the occasional Tae Bo class at the gym when it coincides with a scheduled cardio workout. Great workout - and hey guys - you get to spend an hour surrounded by all that tight lycra

.... actually you have to watchout for those boxing shorts that aren't tight Yoda. WooHoo one good extended kick out to the side and ("I see London...I see France...") this is the only time I wear "lycra" during my class (underneath those boxing shorts)
Make sure you check yourself out in a mirror folks, kicking in your attire before you go to these classes ... I have seen way too much
