to all those who think boxing is weak. another boxer was killed recently in the ring.......so there you go another blow to professional boxing.....do you feel they will have to wear protective gear now in pro contact sports?

sad but true......another death for boxing.

Death in professional sports happen. It happens in amateur sports too. The competitors know that death is a possibility before they step into the ring. Nobody forced them into the ring. So as far as I'm concerned, boxing gloves and mouth piece is enough. Heck, if people wanna brain each other with sticks, that's cool with me.

Boxing is to much about the money .
I don't like heavy weight boxing, but the middle weight matches are good.

Felix Trinidad, Shane Mosely, Vargas , De la Hoya. I like watching them fight, very entertaining because they know how to fight.

I also agree with thaiboxerken. Without a doubt boxing is the best hand fighting technique bar none.

I must humbly agree that boxing is (in my opinion) a martial art, although my dictionary says a martial art is an " Eastern fighting sport" (honestly what does it know). I also beleive that anyone serious about punching hard ie. Muay Thai, Kickboxers and all the rest would improve their game by cross training in boxing. And it makes awesome self defence, unless you have to defend youself in a martial arts ring fight, which kindoff falls out of the self defence catagory.
OK now Ive said too much.
And this isnt "mine's bigger/better/faster than yours".

I wouldn't like to get pounded in the head by anyone...I've seen boxing matches at my class and they're nasty! I'm just such a wimp really.

Boxing has its strengths and weaknesses, well its all been said on this board!
I do box and its a good laugh, very helpful, if ur on the street on ur own. how to throw a punch helps, but then again, any art can be helpful, i guess it depends on the situation.
