I probably don't worry about the quality of cards as much because all the UFC pay-per-views are shown free in Korea.

there's no denying the UFC has done everything for MMA as a sport. The comparison in my post was actually refering to UFC and traditional MA. Professional atheletes in every sport are bigger faster stronger than ever before. Sports science and nutrition have come a long way. Guys like GSP and Silva will rise to the top in any arena. And frankly the cards haven't been that great for a while now. It feels like the matches are created excplicitly to maximize ppv sales. If anything the UFC has done it's job bringing MMA mainstream and now MMA has outgrown the UFC. MMA deserves a greater governing body.

No idea why, but all UFC pay-per-views are broadcast in Korea on a basic cable channel. It probably has to do with viewership. The UFC isn't terribly popular here as they used to get stuff from Pride, and currently get K-1 events. They also enjoy watching Korean fighters. There just aren't many in the UFC, because they can have lucrative careers over here, and are likely more comfortable staying put.

I figured that this would be the thread to announce, in case you haven't heard, that today Zuffa purchased Strikeforce.

And from the SI article, he's already bought out Pride and K1.

I'd heard about the StrikeForce purchase. I'm not sure what he plans on doing with it yet.
