How much do you people weigh anyway who want to put on weight.

True Hiya, after a tough workout, it is good to eat a high carbohydrate, high protein meal within half an hour, since the carbs will help to restore glycogen supplies in the muscle quickly, and consuming protein within that half hour is the most important time for protein

There is a lot of useful information on weight gain at: http://www.karateforums.com/forums/viewtopic.php?topic=1041&forum=19

Thanks.

I heard from a guy in college to become a personal trainer(in weighlifting) that after you workout you need nothing but carbs, no fat no protien just carbs to replenish your bodies energy. An hour after that you need some fat and lots of protien. He said that was for lifting so i would think it would be pretty much the same for any other workout.
Just what I heard.

From my research & training in this field I basically agree with Jack. When I prescribe a strength training routine for my clients I include post exercise nutrition & recommend a mix of carbs & protein 20-60minutes after they finish.

In my own training I follow my strength training routine with up 90 minutes of cardio work - so I take my shake after my weights & before my cardio. I though it would cause me a problem with the cardio but as long as I don't hit the treadmill first and turn myself into a human milk churn I feel fine. I use the reclined cycle first for 20min which gives my system a chance to settle down before the skipping, treadmill, Cross Trainer, Concept II Rower etc.

My post weights shake contains approx...

30g Whey Protein Isolate
20g Carbs
5g Creatine Monohydrate
4g L-Glutamine

Basically it's an EAS Myoplex shake to which I add the Creatine & Glutamine.

Hi Jack

What brand of Whey Protein do you use? How much do you pay for it?

Hey YODA

Holland and Berret. It costs just £3.50 for a large tub of 450g, which can't be bad! It's about 90% useful proteins as well. Each scoop has 17 grams of Protein with very little of anything else, so I suppose I could be getting something better. But that price just makes it irresistable
