religion has its place in the arts for many people growth internally is important too

but inside the ring or on the sparring mat the only religion is survival of the fittest.

I found this on a site that had various statues depicting Jesus instructing children in various sports gymnastics, skiing, golf, ballet, biking, inline skating and yes, ..... martial arts too

Did you know Jesus was a master of the martial arts ....

IMO, fighting and soldiering has to have that concept of religion.

Imagine facing death, day in and day out, wouldn't you be more comfortable believing that something other than simply ceasing to exists will happen to you after you die?

I just believe that, that spiritual aspect is a natural extension of being a Warrior. Its no coincidence that the finest warriors in the World were religious people. Sometimes, that translates into the martial arts turning into a religion. Which makes a lot of sense to me.

I agree. Valentine's Day stinks for single people and here it comes again.

So we should both be happy to know that St. Valentine was beheaded

Actually, this might be true in a way, or it could be that he was said to be perfect. (I.E. A perfect life, to redeem Adam, who was perfect.)
I can recall various accounts where Jesus evaded crowds of people who wanted to kill him. It doesn't say he hurt anyone, but hey, that just goes
to show that if we were perfect like Adam(before he sinned), or Jesus, what we could do.
