1-22-07:

I couldn't make it to the gym or class today, because I had to stay home with a sick toddler. So, I improvised:

Push-ups: 3 sets of 10; then 3 sets of 10 with a toddler (22 additional pounds) on my back!

Shovelglove work with a 16 pound sledgehammer: "shovel" technique, 3x15; tricep extensions, 3x10; bicep curls, 3x10.

Punches with dumbells (10 lbs.): jab-3x10, both sides; cross-3x10, both sides; jab-cross combo, 3x10, both sides.

Standing overhead toddler raises (with a 22 lb. squirming toddler): 3x10

I finished up with about 15 minutes worth of cathal's close quarter hip exercise.

Squirming?? Not my toddler. She stays perfectly still and does nothing but laugh whenever I raise her over my head. She thinks it's the greatest thing in the world.

Though I must admit, I never thought about using her in my workout. Perhaps I will if the wife doesn't find out

It worked quite well, much to my approval. Who needs weights? Just have kids!!

This is what I'm trying to work on for a new training schedule...

Stretch.
Run for about 3-4ks.
Home gym (weighted rows, pull downs, leg curls, etc. 10lbs, 20, 30, 40, 40, 30, 20, 10).
Push ups/Sit ups/Pull ups.
Skip or Exercise Bike.
Free Weights Light - Medium - Max - Max - Medium - Light - Barbell Squats, Bench Press, Dead Lifts, Rows, etc.
Heavy Bag.
One more run before bed.
Stretch.

What does everyone think?

1-23-07:

Missed the gym again, so I improvised again.

This is a workout set that I have done in the past. It is a kicking exercise. You start out in a fighting stance, either leg forward. Then, you pick a kick. I started with the front kick. I did 5 front leg kicks, then 5 back leg kicks. Then, I switched my stance to the other leg forward, and did 5 more front leg kicks, and then 5 back. For each kick, you get a total of 20 reps.

Front kick: 20
Round kick: 20
Side kick: 20

The above where while holding the afforementioned toddler!

45 degree round kick: 20
Twist kick: 20
Front stretch kick: 20
Side stretch kick: 20
Hook kick: 20
Outer cresent kick: 20
Inner cresent kick: 20

Finished with a total of 200 kicks.

Another note: Yesterday and today's training was done in street clothing with shoes on.

Now I feel really guilty after reading all your posts, didn't work out today.
Having trouble with asthma/allergies. went to the hospital today to have a pulmonary function test to see if my doc. can help me. I'm starting to get a little paranoid about working out due to the asthma attacks or whatever I have right after.
